Showstopping Red Carpet Looks You Can Wear for Less

Awards season has ended, but that doesn't stop an obsession with the most stunning red carpet looks (especially for those who have prom coming up). From the Golden Globes to the Grammy Awards to the Academy Awards, celebrities paraded in front of the cameras decked out in shimmery dresses, refreshing patterns, and regal couture gowns. Fashion envy? Outfits inspired by some of this season's top looks are available for less than $70.

Only one word can describe Taraji P. Henson on the Oscars red carpet: slay. The "Hidden Figures" actress wowed onlookers in a dark-blue, off-the-shoulder gown and channeled old-school glamour with a tousled hairstyle and smokey makeup.

For $90 at Macy's, get a similarly elegant look with a velvet-trim gown from Ralph Lauren. It features an attractive pleated neckline that bares the shoulders and a slit at the left leg. Accessorize with chandelier earrings or a pearl necklace.

White isn't the easiest color to wear, but model Karlie Kloss made it seem like a breeze at the Oscars. Her pristine white gown featured a regal floor-length cape (bringing to mind a similar Oscar look worn by Gwyneth Paltrow in 2012). She accessorized with loose waves, chunky earrings, and a substantial choker.

Wearing a red dress on the red carpet was hardly a challenge for best supporting actress winner Viola Davis. The "Fences" star dazzled in a custom gown with an off-the-shoulder design and halter neck.

To mimic Davis' eye-catching look, try a scarlet Asos jumpsuit with a ruffle bardot and halter neck ($68). It can easily be dressed up with strappy stilettos and metallic accessories.

Kristen Bell shone at the Golden Globes in a black sequin gown, sultry makeup, and a deep, square neckline that took the plunge.

A Rare London plunge-neck dress ($20 on sale from Asos) has the same all-over shimmery black sequins and that distinctive square plunge neckline.

R&B singer Tinashe walked the Grammys red carpet in a seductive cut-out black dress. Criss-cross straps secured a triangle top, which connected to a smooth satin skirt. Tinashe completed her look with hoop earrings, a small clutch, and wavy bangs.

For $25 on sale, you can wear a similar cut-out dress from Charlotte Russe. Netted mesh adds volume to this skater dress, and wire secures the deep V-neck plunge. Accessorize with a favorite clutch, sandals, and chunky bracelets and earrings.

Mandy Moore hasn't appeared on the red carpet in years, but she captivated viewers in a role on "This Is Us" and in a black Grecian-style gown at the Golden Globes. The neckline takes a very steep plunge, and a sheer cape adds drama and elegance.

If you're eyeing the flowing sheer cape, try a cape-sleeve dress from Forever 21 ($28). This dramatic look trades the low neckline for a high hemline. Pair with your favorite long necklace and boots.

It's not always about the dresses. "Westworld" actress Evan Rachel Wood attended the Golden Globes in a dashing black silk pantsuit, classically paired with a white pussy-bow blouse.

To channel Wood's menswear look, pick up an H&M tuxedo jacket ($60). The viscose material has a sheen, giving the jacket a satiny look. A tie-neck blouse from Modcloth ($45) would make a Globes-inspired companion.

Plenty of celebrities wore black to the Grammys, but a sheer overlay added a romantic, feminine touch to the plunging neckline and side slit on Kristin Cavallari's gown. Black nail polish, stud earrings, and a simple ponytail completed her look for co-hosting E News' Grammys pre-show.

Channel your sexy side in a black-lace plunge maxi dress from Missguided ($27). Much like Cavallari's, the V-neck goes deep and there's also an open back. Sheer lace detailing on the skirt plays peek-a-boo.

"Quantico" actress Priyanka Chopra appeared at her first Golden Globes in Ralph Lauren, adorned in bright gold sequins and beads. The plunge neckline was accented with a jewel necklace and framed by wavy locks.

Gold dresses aren't easy to find, but a sequin bodycon dress from Charlotte Russe ($25 on sale) comes in the same attention-grabbing hue as Chopra's. Instead of a plunge neckline, which can be difficult to wear, this golden number has a sexy open back.
